Seaside - Part 1 of 2

This post (as well as Wednesday's) includes some shots we snapped while on vacation a few weeks ago. Happy Summer, everyone!
Enjoy~
I realize everyone comes home from the beach with a picture like this, but I just couldn't keep myself from including it.
After Beryl had torn across the island, this site was especially beautiful to us.

This beachball was purchased more for photo opps than for play - Ridiculous, huh? *smile*

Blueberry Cobbler

Today, I want to share with you a super easy recipe for blueberry cobbler.

A friend of ours brought this cobbler to a potluck, and from my first bite, I knew I had to have the recipe!

Blueberry Cobbler

Blueberry Cobbler

It is absolutely delicious!

Layer one container of fresh blueberries in the bottom of a baking dish.

In a separate bowl, mix together:
1 cup of flour
1 cup of sugar
1 egg
1 melted stick of butter

Then, spread the mixture over the berries.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

It's really that easy!

David loves this dessert, and I served it to him for Father's Day - with a heaping spoonful of Vanilla Bean ice cream on top, of course.
Blueberry Cobbler

While we were in Florida, we tried Granny Mutt's Blueberry Squares at Kelley's Courtyard Cafe.

As delicious as they were, they didn't even come close to this simple recipe that we discovered a few years ago while visiting friends.

Confession: We didn't just try one dessert at Kelly's Courtyard Cafe - We ordered the Banana Pudding, too. *blush*
I believe it was during dessert when a opposum decided to join us - under the table.
No, I am not joking!
We notified the waitress, and she acted as if "Bert" (YES! THE OPPOSUM HAD A NAME!) was the restaurant pet or something.
I have a major issue with this, but I won't waste any more of your time with that random story.
I absolutely can not close this post without also including a picture of their Seafood Enchiladas - Yummo!
You take pictures of delicious entrees, too - don't you?

DIY Rustic Photo Frames

These Rustic Photo Frames are an easy DIY that anyone can do!

Photo Frames

I started with a 6 ft. piece of rustic, knotty pine that I had Lowe's cut in to four 18-inch boards.

I stained each board with Minwax Wood Stain (Provincial).

I did about three or four rounds with the wood stain - We like dark wood around here.

I waited 48 hours for the stain to dry, etc.
I then used wood glue to adhere two different sets of two boards together.

I nailed the backing for the picture frame onto the board.

I attached sawtooth picture hangers to the back of each set of boards.

I inserted 5 x 7 photos & glass and ta-da - Finished!

Note: If you have small children, make sure you plan to work on this project during naptime.
Or, get a babysitter! I would suggest the latter, but either way - it'll be a hit!

Fort Clinch - Within These Walls

Well, everyone, I told you that I was going to be slow posting pictures from our summer travels, and I do not lie. Not only do we currently have "too many irons in the fire" (as my mother would say), but I am also dealing with a laptop that is completely full. It literally will not hold one more picture as I have overloaded it with thousands (no exaggeration) of photos of my baby boy. Needless to say, I'm laptop shopping (any recommendations?) and - in the meantime - juggling the camera and external storage devices. Annoying - but no one wants to hear me complain. So, on with it...

Included in this post are some photographs I snapped while touring Fort Clinch in the Fernandina Beach area - Florida. I am BIG TIME in to Civil War history (Bet you didn't know that about me!) and I love learning about what life was like for people of that time period. Enjoy a few snapshots from "within the walls" of the Fort.

Okay, Caleb is not quite as passionate about the stars & stripes, but hopefully someday, he will appreciate these kinds of things.
