Triple-Decker Goodness

David and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary, and while I feel I should tell you all the wonderful things about my husband, I think I will save that for another time. You see, there is something much more pressing that I need to share with you - the recipe for the dessert he made for us on our anniversary.

His friend at work shared this "pin" with him - Yes, my husband thinks Pinterest is great. He made me promise I would never tell you this, but I forgot. Oops! Anyway, the Pinterest name for this recipe is a little risque', so I have temporarily renamed this dessert "Triple-Decker Goodness" (until I think up another title - Let me know if you have any ideas!).

Here goes:

Choose your favorite brownie mix (We love Ghirardelli or Hershey's!), and bake the mixture until it is about half-way/three-fourths of the way cooked.

Then, layer Oreos and cookie dough (We used Pillsbury's chocolate chip cookie dough!) on top of the partially cooked brownies.

Is your mouth watering yet?

Then, continue baking - so the brownies can finish doing their thing and the cookies can bake.

After it cools a bit, cut and serve. My piece looked like this:

There are not enough words to describe how wonderful this was!

*DO NOT SERVE THIS DESSERT WITHOUT BREYER'S VANILLA BEAN ICE CREAM ON THE SIDE.

*I cheated again. Hey, it was my anniversary! I will probably cheat again a few times during the holidays. I'm just warning you - as truffle-making season officially arrives in 6 days.

Fall-Themed Cooperative Learning Activities for Babies & Toddlers

Coopering-learning "baby-style" is so much fun and super easy to plan! My friend and I have coordinated cooperative learning activities for our boys to do together, and we're off to a great start! She and I were both teachers before we became mommies, and our boys are now falling victim to enjoying our love of planning great learning lessons! This morning's activities were all fall-focused. We played acorn games, used fall-themed cookie cutters to practice shapes, made a baby version of "Trail Mix", and did some music activities.

Fall-Themed Co-Op Activities

These activities can be modified/used for babies, toddlers, and/or preschool-age kiddos.
They can done individually or with small groups.

Acorns are clearly a choking hazard, so we made sure they were tightly sealed in these containers. The boys loved shaking them! We also played a game where we hid the acorn containers under the cups and the boys had to find them.

Cookie cutters and paint can also make for a fun combination!
We "hid" various items (such as the above cookie cutters - Depending on the age of your children, you can also use leaves, sticks, acorns, etc.) in uncooked macaroni and let the boys "go searching". They loved the mess we let them make with this activity.

These are the two ingredients we made for our baby version of "Trail Mix". It was a hit!

I found these musical instruments at a consignment sale, but it's also easy to make your own "instruments" - rice sealed in a plastic container...beans [tightly] taped inside a paper towel holder...You get the idea.
Babies don't care - They just enjoy making noise. *smile*
