This month, I finally followed through with a promise I made several years ago...
when my hair looked like this...
In 2005, I committed to growing out my hair with plans to eventually cut it and donate it to a program that assists cancer patients in their search for a wig. So many of our friends and family have been touched by cancer, and while I do not personally know many who have taken advantage of Pantene's Beautiful Lengths' program, I love what this company stands for, and I am convinced that so many people benefit from the donations they receive.
If this is something you would be interested in doing, here are the details. The instructions are easy to follow - Getting the nerve to cut off that much hair...now that's a different story! *smile*
My hair now falls just below my shoulders.
It still has a few layers and is styled very much the same as it was before I cut it.
While I miss my longer hair (especially when I see a head of long, flowing locks), I feel so good about giving back in this way.
My shorter hair serves as a reminder to pray for those who are right now in a battle with cancer.
Mailing off nine inches of my hair, in an effort to make a difference for someone else, was really exciting!
Who knows?! I may even do it again someday~
Hopefully, next time, it won't take me 8 years to take the plunge!
