Look What I Found!

A Few of My Recent Yard Sale Finds

Yard Sale season is in full swing, and I have already found so many great things! I'm always looking for items to resell on ebay or Craig's List, and I also gather clothes for resale at a couple of great consignment stores back home in WV. I have found bag fulls of nice things that I will be able to cash in on, but I have also snagged some things that I plan to hold on to - like a $2.00 Nine West leather handbag. Check out some of my other finds!

I have been wanting to get these B. Toys Blocks for Caleb, and I was sure that I would eventually run across them at a Kid's Consignment Sale or a yard sale. After not seeing them at any of the Spring Consignment Sales, I was beginning to wonder when I spotted them at a recent yard sale - Brand New for $1.00!

I'm sure you're not surprised that I keep a list of "wanted" books (books that I want to add to mine or Caleb's collection - My hubby is not much of a reader. *grin*). Would you believe that I didn't already own, "I Love You Through and Through"? It is such a sweet book, and I've been on the look-out for it for awhile now. I was so excited when I found it at a yard sale - perfect condition - for twenty-five cents.

This is not the only cute book they were selling - I found lots of other great books at that sale! I can not imagine selling like-new books for a quarter, but I love that some people do! It allows me to avoid Barnes & Noble - except for special occasions or when I have a gift card, of course.

I also love when other Moms' splurging habits provide my kiddo with brand new or like-new clothes for cheap! Did I ever mention that the Ralph Lauren shirt/sweater set Caleb wore for Easter was only twenty cents at a local garage sale? Anyway, even with all of my buying ahead, Caleb has been running low on 9-12 months sleepers (which he is currently in), and recently, I have found lots of great pjs for him in this size. I especially love these Carter's footie pajamas - so adorably cute and comfy!

I have learned, however, that sometimes it's not just the moms who have a spending problem - This past Saturday I came across a dad who admitted that he was addicted to buying clothes for his kids. Needless to say, I made out like a bandit - Janie & Jack, Ralph Lauren, Kenneth Cole, Nike, Sperry, Stride Rite (yes, brand new shoes!), and more! I walked away from this dad having spent [on several bags of clothes] what he had probably spent on one of the Polo shirts I bought for Caleb!

Another fun find - this past weekend - was a sale where a girl was selling maternity clothes for $1.00 each. (I told you that I like to buy ahead, and eventually I hope to strap a couple more car seats into our mini-van. *smile*) Onward...This particular seller had a few Motherhood & Pea in the Pod pieces, but my favorite finds were the tops she had purchased in London from "Mamas and Papas" - http://us.mamasandpapas.com/. Check them out - They have some really cool stuff!

One more item worth mentioning...David and I recently purchased an umbrella stroller to use when we're running around with our little one, but we wanted to get another one to use for when we're traveling by plane. When I spotted this Chicco one for $12, I grabbed it!
It's a great stroller - that I hardly spent anything on - and so I won't be upset if when it gets torn up at the airport. I'm not so sure I would recommend typically buying this type of thing used, but - because of the purpose it's going to serve - I'm not too concerned.
