Indoor and Outdoor Summer Activities

Our Favorite Indoor Activities:

My kids love books, puzzles, blocks, and such, but their favorite indoor activity involves our Paper Bucket Art Box. This is perfect for a day when it's raining...or too hot outside...or too cold outside.

The Paper Bucket is full of all kinds of random things that my little ones enjoy using for "free art". There are no rules. They are free to cut and glue and cut and glue and cut and glue...creating anything they like - using the items in their Paper Bucket.

For my oldest, I hand him age-appropriate scissors and a glue stick and he goes to town with the goodies in this bucket.

Have you tried Kiwi Crate? Talk about another great indoor activity!

Our Favorite Outdoor Activities

In ice cube trays, I separated a variety of little critters...

...then added water and froze them overnight...(a great little Science lesson for little ones!)

We also did this on a larger scale - using large animals...in a larger container...
The next afternoon brought lots of outdoor fun!

The "ice cubes" were dropped in glasses of water...melted on hot pavement...held in little hands until they melted...my kids loved it!

The large block of ice called for tools - a hammer and a screwdriver to be exact!

They had a great time "digging" for the creatures.
*Supervision - Highly Suggested!*

Psst....painting with water is a favorite around here~

  2. Love the ice cube tray idea. My grandson will love this. Just packed up my classroom and I'll have to dig out my little critters to do this on the patio with him.
